I have suffered from vertigo for a few years now not a constant thing but it can be debilitating when it happens.

hi frances & erontquay i have only had a few bouts of it, thankfully, but the Mal da Mare is 24 - 7, i have got used to that, some days better than others. but yes erontquay, i am glad its gone, at least for now. Would maybe have understood it more, if i had had a bad nights sleeps, but didn't even get up to the Loo as i normally do, so had a brilliant nights sleep, on Tuesday. my Mad da Mare is worse when i;ve had a poor nights sleep. Strange though

I have Menieres Disease, which is to do with the inner ear. I am currently in my 3rd. "visitation" of this. I have quite bad bouts of vertigo, virtually no balance and the most appalling tinnitus. I have some tablets which are supposed to help, but so far not much good. I have an appointment in a few weeks time to see if there is anything that can be done, I don't hold out much hope. Miserable old git aren't I?

I had a lot of trouble with an inner ear infection last year went to see a specialist and he sent me to Liegh for test's I had to sit on the edge of a bed and in front of me was a length of wood (well it looked like wood) and I had to follow a marker that kept moving along and the wood slant to one side then the other, after I had to lie down and I had to wear some type of goggles that I couldn't see thru and I had to keep my eyes open wide, they put a tube or whatever in each ear at a time after about 20minutes everything finnished, A few weeks later I went to Liegh again and a young specialist nurse informed me don't take any pills and gave me a paper of what to do..... just move my head left to right up and down then stand up do the same after that turn round one way then the other it was a good job the sattee was near as when I had stopped turning I didn't know where I was everything was going round and round , I folloed the routine for about two/three weeks then thaught that's it back to the doctor back on the pills and don't feel as bad now thank goodness.

I have vertigo and was sent to the hospital, they did tests and gave me some exersizes to do and the do work when needed.it was in the audiology department.
I was in bed for 3 days once with it.it was awful.
They told me that the crystals we have in our ears get unbalanced and with these excersizes they get put back.
A bit like a pin ball machine.

I have had quite bad tinnitus for a number of years, sometimes can be very debilitating, last week I had a couple of unbalance incidents and mentioned it to my doctor. He said in my case it was probably the blood pressure medication I am on which can cause low blood pressure. It's the same effect as getting up suddenly from a chair and feeling light headed. I have had vertigo and feel sorry for anyone who suffers from it.

I've just got home and cracked open a can of Special Brew. I've got another two in the fridge.

Tomorrow, I imagine I'll suffer mild vertigo, at least until lunchtime, when it'll be suddenly cured by a potion (portion) of fish, chips and sloppy peas!

tonker........Don't you dare make fun about the very debilitating illness called Vertigo.
If you had ever experienced it you wouldn't make fun. It is one of the most debilitating experiences you can have.
I've suffered with it for years and even been hospitalised and even lost the hearing in one of my ears completely. So keep your silly opinions to yourself.....they are not appreciated by me or, I am sure, by the other people on this page who have experienced it.

I don't care whether YOU appreciate it, or not. I wish I'd only had vertigo to worry about, instead of the resultant problems from a broken neck and brain damage.
If I can laugh at my own misfortune, I'm sure going to laugh at yours, you dizzy bugger!

tonker.......you just don't care who you insult, do you, you ignorant., ignorant man !!!!!!
Read all the comments about this illness !!! Mine was caused by a stroke and all the resultant damage that that causes.....put that in your broken neck.....you've obviously recovered very well and suffered no misfortune !!
As for your brain damage, I can well understand that you suffered that......you show it every time you post on WiganWorld.
As for being a 'dizzy bugger' I'm probably old enough to be your mother and probably have more education than you have ever had.
Don't you insult me, you 'orrible little man.....you're just ignorant !!!!! Get lost !!!!!!!

Veg grower......he may be messin but there's no need for insults especially to people who aren't well. I've never been called a 'dizzy bugger' in my life and I'm not starting now.
He's just an ignorant know-all and I refuse to be insulted by such as him....he thinks he can get away with saying anything because he has the reputation for doing that but I regard being called a 'dizzy bugger' as an insult and may just complain about it. He's not funny even though he might think he is......he's just an ignorant man !!!! Vertigo, Menieres Disease, etc. are such debilitating illnesses that they shouldn't be made fun of. He should experience it before he makes jokes.....he wouldn't be laughing then !!!!!

One to cheer Cherries up ......

The Foreman finds Paddy sat on a pile of bricks, on site, with his head in his hands and Paddy tells him, "I feel all sick and dizzy, so I do. I think I'll go home, so I will".

The Foreman asks Paddy, "Do you think you've got Vertigo, Paddy?", to which Paddy replies, "No, I only live round the corner"!

cherries, don't you know the rules on here ? anything plonker says is ok, no matter who he upsets, cos he is the font of all knowledge, and most on here hangs on to his every word, and bow down to his "superior" knowledge.

I ended up in Casualty on saturday. I just collapsed & landed on the floor. The ambulance was called & because I had hit my head (on a picture of Wigan Pier, would you believe?) they took me there. I was there for hours, freezing cold, they decided I was fit enough to go home, which I did. My balance is worse than ever & where I was banged on my back & head, I have a lot of pain.I am still going to the theatre tonight, "The Ladykiller". Been looking forward to it for months.

tony j..........I for one do not 'bow down' to the 'superior' knowledge of tonker.......he has no ' 'knowledge' as far as I'm concerned !!!! but I do realise that most people on here do bow down and think he's being funny. Well, I don't !!! Definitely not !!! He is an opinionated, ignorant man and as he suffers from brain damage, maybe that's the reason !!!! and it is NOT acceptable to call someone, especially a lady, a 'dizzy bugger'. How is that funny or 'ok' ?????
It's time some of the regulars on here put him firmly in his place and tell him precisely what he is instead of bowing down to him.
I don't follow his rules on here thank you very much !!!!!
Well I refuse to be called names by an ignoramus and shall take it further !!!!

Hello piccyme.....Please don't apologise for causing any trouble at all. It's my fault for standing up to that ignoramus, plonker !!! but, having suffered vertigo, tinnitus, etc. for a lot of years I couldn't help but put my comments when he was making a joke about it and especially when he was calling me names. There was no need for that and if he had ever experienced vertigo, then he would know that it's one of the most debilitating illnesses you can have.
I do hope you're feeling better and everyone else as well who suffers from this.
I have complained to the 'powers that be' but whether anything will be done I doubt it.
I very rarely post on here and think this will be my last. I just can't stand to read the nonsense that such as plonker writes. Better to stay away. xx

I am a bully. There's no two ways about it. My mother died when I was born, and ever since then I've tried to fill that void with violence.

I don't have any real friends, more like people that hang around me because they think it'll gain them some kind of street cred. I let them do it because it feels good to have a kind of gang. We all even got the same tattoo after one crazy night out.

When I was younger I was sent to a boarding school and I actually impressed a lot of the teachers, but I always bullied the other kids to show them I was cool as well as brainy. When I left school I worked as a bit of a dealer, going to people's houses and selling and buying their stuff. Stuff that, to be honest, was against the law - but it made me feel big.

Soon, I began balding, and this made me look even more hard. So I started murdering people, and doing cocaine, so much in fact, I eroded nearly all of my nose. This was when I got into the criminal scene so deep that I had to change my name to avoid capture. I'd done some pretty screwed up stuff.

But I still can't kill that Potter kid.

We did go to the theatre last night, if you have the chance to see it - on tour, go, it was great "The Ladykillers" it had the same feel as the film, but with other fun bits added. The theatre was packed & a very enthusiastic audience. I felt much better afterwards.

Hi piccyme
Thanks for your comments and ever so glad maggie was feeling better and enjoyed the theatre last night.
There would have been no arguing but for the plonker making jokes about this subject cos I'm the last one to argue with anyone but I just couldn't take what he was saying and especially calling me names....completely uncalled for !!!
As far as I'm concerned the subject was closed after my last message and whether or not I'll post again remains to be seen.
Originally I hadn't posted that I had the same condition and wasn't going to but HE caused it....as usual. As I said this is not a condition to be joked about and only wish he could experience it.
I do have to say that everyone......or most people on here....do seem to bow down to him but it isn't in my nature to bow down to a bully which he is.
Thanks for your support. xx

I'd rather have a pedant on my back than a stalker.

Typing of the former, here's a little tip for you, Cherries, from Tonker's own fair hand.

Starting at the industrial estate on Woodhouse Lane near Standish (lower ground) and going anticlockwise, the boundary of Wigan goes -

Down the River Douglas until where Poolstock Brook joins the river near the end of Baker Street. It then follows that brook until Poolstock Bridge (near Scotsman's Flash) and turns left, running alongside the canal to Warrington Road, Ince, when it joins Carrington Brook. It follows the brook near the canal almost to Rose Bridge, then goes off towards Whelley and joins another brook which runs under the road near the Alexandra pub and joins the River Douglas again behind that area they call Bottling Wood.
Then it goes up the River Douglas until about a quarter of a mile from Boars Head pub, where Wigan Lane stops. It then goes west, behind the cemetary and joins a brook running behind Acacia Crescent, on Beech Hill estate, which it follows down to the River Douglas near Standish lower ground where we started.

Which is, more or less, clearly shown on this map of Wigan Parish. All the surrounding places (Pemberton, Ince, Aspull, Haigh, Standish and Shevington) are also shown.

Wigan covers about 2300 acres / three and a half square miles.

You're only in Wigan when you're not somewhere else!

You have been warned.

It's an envy thing of his.

Just preventing a bit more bother in the future.

Now stick to topic. Or there'll be more thread ruining posts from some people about people posting thread ruining posts.

Oh walshy......it's just not worth not being friends with everybody.

Its worth it to me, why would I want to be friends with an hypocrite, liar, and someone who comes out with nasty and personal comments about people when he doesn't get his own way, which is most of the time

Remember fellas that the subject of this thread is Vertigo but it seems to have got lost in the bickering that's going on.
Piccyme asked quite a simple question as to whether anybody else suffers from it and it's ended up in a dogfight !!!
What are you thinking about at all ????
If you did suffer from vertigo you wouldn't argue like you are doing.
Be good lads and behave yourselves....there's nothing to argue about really.

I suppose it's enjoyment to some of you.....picking and piking at each other !!!
Carry on bickering if you want but don't forget the original subject which is serious.
I hope that piccyme is feeling better now.

Very true that

When one goes on a thread the rest follow

When one doesn't post, the others don't

Yep I've realised it, dosco and walshy.......still think they enjoy arguing amongst themselves and lose track of what the thread is really about but if they're happy, then why not !!!
It's all good fun !!!

well i am back !!!! have just had a lovely 5 day break to Weymouth, Sunshine everyday, but, i can see not much has changed on W.W. still silly boys playing, with their claws out, like cats. ta to cherries & veteran for trying to remind folk that i did ask a simple but serious question, and some have replied seriously, but, others, well so childish, go play with your toy soldiers, and leave the important stuff to the grown ups.
LETS CLOSE THIS TOPIC / THREAD NOW, PLEASE !!!

well shall we get back to the original posting ...vertigo, i have paroxymal positional vertigo, which can last for days the worst being feeling unsteady even when i move my eyes and as im typing this and looking up to the screen the sensation of dizziness comes on although i dont actually see the room move, i cant look upwards anytime as verigo sends me flying, i have been shown `excersises ` to do to enable the crystals in my ears to get back in place but they dont always work, im so fed up of this i was wondering if anyone else had this and a member put me on to this link although im guessing the condition will be made fun of, but if it is please just thank God you dont suffer from this,

About one month ago I had my first attack and have felt scared and depressed daily.I live on a Greek island and knew I would have to pay aloe of money to even have a hope of relief and so I resorted to Google and Yahoo and found out about the Epley Manouvre on Youtube. This isn't for all cases but it has helped me alot and I can feel an improvement.I really do think that sufferers should try it,nothing ventured nothing gained etc etc. I must also add here that I am a Wigan woman who follows this site religiously and am appalled that certain idiots find it entertaining to joke about others health issues. Good luck to any that give this a try
